Numina Group’s Warehouse Control System Includes Voice Directed Picking Technology Breakthrough
Numina Group’s warehouse control system RDS 6.0 includes several new pre-developed application control modules, including Pick Execution™ a multi-modal picking module updated to include top-VOX’s topSPEECH-Lydia 6.0®, the industry’s first voice application to support VOIP (voice over IP). The technology is server based, shipped with MySQL or can be deployed on any industry standard SQL database. A Labor Management Module is now included to allow for order and worker labor productivity tracking.
Woodridge, IL (PRWEB) January 16, 2010 -- 2010 is an exciting year for organizations looking to improve their distribution operations because Numina Group’s Real Time Distribution System, RDS 6.0, now includes several new pre-developed application control modules that enhance their leading warehouse execution and control platform. Pick Execution ™, Numina Group’s Voice Directed Picking Module, has been updated to include top-VOX’s topSPEECH-Lydia 6.0®. Lydia 6.0 is the industry’s first voice application to support VOIP (voice over IP) technology. “Lydia 6.0 allows a supervisor to directly communicate work instructions and task assignments in real-time to the worker, an industry first. It is essentially a push to talk phone that allows a supervisor to verbally communicate to the worker” explains Dan Hanrahan, president of the Numina Group.
Pick Execution™ is a multimodal picking automation module that supports voice directed picking integrated with hands-free SKU, lot, or location barcode capture, providing complete pick and pack validation in a single step. Voice directed picking combined with Numina Group’s full family of operator message displays and pick to light modules can be seamlessly used together to automate the pick and pack process. Like the initial version of Pick Execution™, this application module is speaker independent, meaning no operator voice training is required, further simplifying the use of the system.
What distinguishes Pick Execution™ is its server based independent database design. It can be deployed on MySQL or any industry standard SQL database providing a single, or optionally a fully on-line redundant application server. The server based design makes it easier and faster to make changes by editing database tables - dramatically reducing software code development time. The software module ships with pre-developed applications supporting multiple picking methods including zone picking, pick to carton, pick to pallet, and pick to cart; further reducing development time.
Included with Pick Execution™ is a Labor Management Module that tracks worker productivity, providing complete order picking labor data and order auditing reports. The labor tracking and reporting tool records and time stamps each worker’s pick tasks with all transactions time-stamped in the database. Pre-developed reports provide the ability to view and print all operator picks and other work related tasks. The reports contain cumulative time spent hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly performing picking or other tasks such as replenishment, receiving, and clean-up.
2010 begins Numina Group’s fourth decade in distribution automation and software development and they continue to be on the cutting edge with bringing new advancements in distribution automation technology. The latest enhancements to Numina Group’s RDS and Pick Execution™ provide distribution operations with features that further increase order accuracy and operational efficiencies, lower costs, and improve revenues.
